The 2008 Programme is here...

This year we believe we have produced another superb programme, with a wide range of topics and speakers. We do hope you will join us at the Memorial Hall in King's Sutton, entrance to the Hall is FREE, where you will be sure of a warm welcome.

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon with books. Come and browse, have lunch, chat to friends, meet new people and the authors. There's plenty to see and do: second-hand books, new books for sale, author promotions - chat to authors about their books, available for sale. Coffee, tea and delicious food is available all through the day, provided by our local culinary talent, The Lazy Chef.

Martin Gurdon's Young Writers' Workshop on Saturday 8 March at 10.15 in the Memorial Hall, is a FREE session and we would like to encourage any young (or young at heart) aspiring writers to come to this event. Following on, Martin Gurdon will also be running a FREE, informal session on Hen and the Art of Chicken Maintenance, his successful book and with luck he will have a chicken or two with him.

King’s Sutton reads Jekyll and Hyde

Please pick up your FREE copy of

Robert Louis Stevenson’s Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

and enjoy a ‘good read’ with the compliments of the King’s Sutton Literary Festival.

And then...if you’d like to have a chat about the book - what you thought of it, or listen to what other people thought of it, please join us for a drink at

The Butchers Arms, Whittall Street, 7.00pm, Wednesday 5th March.

Roger Neil says, ‘When Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was published in 1886, it was an immediate best-seller worldwide. We still use the expression ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ in our language today. But what does the book say to us now, 122 years after it was first published?’ Roger, a big fan of Robert Louis Stevenson, will host the discussion at the Butchers Arms.

Copies are available from the village Post Office, shops and pubs.

We look forward to seeing you then.

The programme is correct at time of going to print but may be subject to alteration without notice.
