THE 5th KING'S SUTTON LITERARY FESTIVAL at the Memorial Hall Saturday 10am-6pm - Sunday 12am-5.30pm The 2008 Programme was a great success...be sure to join us next year (dates to be confirmed) Our Literary Festival has become well and truly established as a not-to-be-missed event in local book lovers calendars. 2008 saw increased tickets sales, despite fewer sessions, and yet again a programme of stimulating, entertaining, erudite and fascinating speakers. The atmosphere in the Hall was as busy and friendly as ever, with many local people dropping in to buy a second hand book, staying for something tasty from The Lazy Chef who add greatly to our event with their delicious food and cheerful, enthusiastic service. The esteemed interviewers were: John Duncan, Zoe Johnson, Peter Kyte, Patrick Neale, Garry O’Connor and Winifred Robinson - respectively a retired Archdeacon, two barristers (one a QC), a leading independent bookseller, a renowned biographer/writer and equally renowned BBC journalist.

Martin Gurdon's Young Writers' Workshop on Saturday 8 March at 10.15 in the Memorial Hall, was a FREE session and we emncouraged any young (or young at heart) aspiring writers to come to this event. Following on, Martin Gurdon ran a FREE, informal session on Hen and the Art of Chicken Maintenance, his successful book and with luck he will have a chicken or two with him.
This was a new initiative for 2008 and a good group gathered to discuss the book on 5 March at The Butchers Arms in Kings Sutton
